ASSISTING ESTATE EXECUTORS AND ADMINISTRATORS A PROBATE LAW FIRM IN HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS
An executor is a person named in the will to settle the estate of a family member or friend. Even if the decedent asked your permission to list you as executor, you may not have had a detailed discussion about his or her wishes.
An administrator is a person chosen or confirmed by the court (a) if there was no will, (b) if the will did not name an executor, or (c) if the named executor is unwilling, unable or also deceased. Individuals can petition to be appointed, family members can nominate a person, or the judge can suggest an administrator.
(A trust administrator, or trustee, is a person assigned to manage trust assets, which are administered separately from the probate process.)
